Summers for House

Boyd understands that strong families build strong
communities. He was born and raised in Columbia,
and except for his college years, has lived in this city
for his entire life. Growing up he was greatly
influenced by his father, a retired Methodist
minister, and mother who has been a community
and social activist in Columbia for the last forty
years. These deep roots in Columbia has fostered a
sense of strong faith, social justice and family values
that Boyd intends to promote if he is fortunate
enough to represent you and your family in the
General Assembly.

He and his wife, Janet, attended high school together
at Spring Valley, and were college sweethearts at
Clemson University. They will celebrate their ten
year anniversary this year. Boyd and Janet chose to
raise a family in the Hampton Trace neighborhood
behind the VA Hospital.

They have two pre-schoolers: Thomas (5) and Mary
Jane (2).

Boyd is a Senior Manager at Indus International, a
global software firm, located in Columbia where he
has worked for the last 9 years. He received his
Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Clemson
University (1991), and a Masters in Public
Administration from USC (1995). He and Janet are
members of Shandon Presbyterian Church, and
active members of the Family Matters Sunday School
Class. Boyd also enjoys volunteering as a T-ball
coach at the YMCA and North Trenholm Baptist
Church.
